ABOUT

Churn returns with a new boutique beats festival showcasing only the best in underground electronic music.

Featuring:

<~*~> Daedelus <~*~>
A Californian native, Daedelus is coming all the way from Los Angeles and playing his first ever show in Gauteng - and with one of the most highly respected live shows in electronic music worldwide - this is one not to be missed. His prolific career includes forward-thinking releases on incredible labels such as Alpha Pup RecordsStones Throw RecordsBrainfeeder,Warp Records and many more, and we are extremely happy to present him to you as the headliner for Churn 2015.

<~> Christian Tiger School <~>
Stalwarts of the South African beats scene, and fresh off the back of their release of the beautiful album Chrome Tapes on Tommy Boy Entertainment, CTS are starting to make waves internationally as well as all around South Africa. Having recently played incredible festivals such as SXSW and Primavera Sound, this is the perfect time to hear their unique, evolving sound.

<~> Card On Spokes <~>
Card On Spokes is the solo electronica/hip hop/afrikaanstrumental project of musician and producer Shane Cooper. He is best known as the bassist in bands like Babu and Closet Snare, while his Card On Spokes project sees him mixing bass, synths, samples and beats that make your head bounce. As much a musician as a live performance artist, Card On Spokes understands the need for for high entertainment presence in his shows, and incorporates the seamless blend of live looping sampling and instrumentation to attract and keep a crowd captivating during his shows.

<~> Charles Webster <~>
Charles Webster is one of the best-loved music professionals of his generation. DJs love him for making their jobs easier, producers love him for the inspiration he provides and his loyal fan base love him because they can trust him to deliver time and again. After twenty-odd years it’s fair to say that Webster has proved himself an essential, consistent innovator in the often fickle world of electronic music.

<~> Rude Boyz SA <~>
Rudeboyz, the Durban production collective of Massive Q, Andile-T and Menchess, are the embodiment of the gqom sound. Gqom translates to 'bang' or 'hit' or 'drum' in Zulu.
This stark strain of South African House, straight from the townships, is a post-Kwaito tribalism with steel-cladded, nasty percussions. The music is raw and dark and leaves the listener totally transfixed. Probably bigger overseas than in their own country, thanks to tastemakers like Kode9 (Hyperdub) and SA underground ambassador OkZharp (LV) spreading the love, it wasnt too long until London-based label Goon Club Allstars were enthralled. The mastered result is an EP that collects an uncompromising, unpretentious excursion into one of the finest forward thinking exciting sounds to come out of our country.

We will be announcing the rest of our amazing line-up over the following weeks!
