ABOUT THE SHOW
Play Club closes it's three-play series, Identity and partnership with Sanders South Africa with this brand new hit, the recent winner of both the 2011 Pulitzer and the 2012 Tony for Best Play. CLYBOURNE PARK explodes in two outrageous acts set fifty years apart. Act One takes place in 1959, as nervous community leaders anxiously try to stop the sale of a home to a black family. Act Two is set in the same house in the present day, as the now predominantly African-American neighborhood battles to hold its ground in the face of gentrification. The play was written in response to Lorraine Hansberry's play A RAISIN IN THE SUN.

WHAT IS PLAY CLUB?

Play Club is Cape Town’s Book Club for Theatre Lovers. Play Club is a monthly initiative of Chase The Sun to build a community among theatre lovers. This brings a well-established New York theatre platform, where the simplicity of a script reading becomes an intimate forum to discover the best modern plays, debut new talent, and allow for engaged discussions. The panel consists of top industry professionals to add commentary and insight, making it a truly memorable evening. Play Club has played host to some of South Africa’s top and up-and-coming actors, directors, educators, filmmakers, producers, playwrights and composers, all mixed with theatre goers who share their passion for the theatre. Play Club has become Cape Town’s own “Inside The Actors Studio.” Parking is off-street inside The Palms Centre garage and is free to Play Club. Our current series is IDENTITY.
