Real stories, told from the heart, connect us to each other. They transcend loneliness, strengthen community, build agency - and keep us coming back for more.

So often we find ourselves worn-out, disengaged, and alone; but as people - and especially as womxn - we are hard-wired to connect and to find meaning in our surroundings, and in what we see and hear. What we crave is to be listened to and to have our stories understood.

To watch somebody clear their throat and - in five minutes - sketch with absolute honesty their most important life encounters, in a way that says “this is me, vulnerabilities, flaws, triumphs, all” allows us the solace of finding some sort of narrative cohesion in the otherwise fractured, randomness of life.

Join us for an evening of storytelling and connecting - and help us reach our fundraising goal of R55000. The theme for the evening is "The moment you found your voice". The evening will be hosted by the award-winning South African journalist and editor, Verashni Pillay (who is also going to be sharing her story!). Our other speakers are:

Dr Tlaleng Mofokeng - the author of Dr T: A guide to sexual health and pleasure, and as of July 2020, the UNHRC's Special Rapporteur for the Right of Everyone to the Enjoyment of the Highest Attainable Standard of Physical and Mental Care.

Esihle Mhluzi - a model, lawyer in training, and an impairment agenda advocate for those differently abled.

Cheryl Benadie - CEO of the Whole Person Academy, she strives to help people rediscover the joy of work and to thrive in the 4IR. 

Shireen Motara - A consultant, coach, and African feminist who works to advance women's rights and social justice.
