Beyond the traditional accompanying role of the Bass (acoustic /electric) within diverse musical instrument ensemble (band/orchestra), Sean Sanby's articulation and style of play transcends this musical restrictions. Effortlessly switching from the role of a groove master, to taking exceptional improvisations, simultaneously dictating the harmonic structure of each tune, Sean expresses a musical acumen that leaves his listeners in awe. As a composer and bassist trained within the jazz medium, his ability to harness harmonic characteristics within this genre in order to interpret other styles of music has made him a sorted after performer and recording artist in Cape Town and abroad. This evening's performance can be seen as a reflection of his musical journey; playing original compositions from his debut album and other personal collections.
