ABOUT

Earth Stories is a collection of dance treasures filmed in majestic nature locations in South Africa.

This is Nature Theatre – artists whose expression is inspired by, and in honour of, the land they are co-creating with. In true collaboration with the Earth, 20% of your ticket price goes to reforesting our beloved home, via Greenpop. Thank you for your contribution to making our world a greener space!

This short film is an intricate and beautifully told story of the nature of existence. It reviews the polarity between wholeness and fragmentation by weaving together music, dance and storytelling. It strikes at the essence of what it means to be human, connected with all that is. Selah’s deep yet light-hearted approach makes for an appetising and nourishing adventure, touching the senses with food for embodied thought.

As a full-time performer, in 2020 Selah found herself no longer able to perform for live audiences. She went to live in the deep forest to ‘discover her true nature.’ She ended up discovering that performing for the trees didn’t pay much, kitchen sinks are highly under-rated, and when you see someone’s heart you are actually seeing your own.

And so Earth Stories was born.

The idea is that the ‘personality’ of the land is truly felt, embodied, honoured and expressed. The magic is that each location is unique – the rocky cliff has a different feeling to the dappled forest or the giant sand dune.

Earth Stories was born from a desire to share the magnificent beauty and profound diversity of the landscapes we call home. To share the natural outpouring of artistic expression that arises when one is in awe. To inspire more of us to sing and dance whenever the desire appears. To honour this Earth, to honour the essence of the land through the human form and its expression.
