17 km walk/run/wiggle from Chardonnay Deli in Constantia to Dalebrook Tidal Pool and Cafe in Kalk Bay!

END: THROUGH the ‘happy’ tunnel at Dalebrook Pool, turn right and follow the tunes for your Ocean Warrior knighting ceremony and good vibes!

BRING
- your ticket to be scanned at entry - on your phone is OK.
- your own water in a bottle or running back, there will be 3 re-filling stations on the route (Tokai Forest, Westlake Circle, Boyes Drive)
SAFETY
- Run, walk, wiggle with a buddy, if you are coming alone - befriend a buddy!
- You have entered at your own risk, the organisers are not liable - we will be sending the indemnity next week, look out for it!
- Route marshalls, ambulance and security will be present and on high alert on the day, for your safety.
- Sweepers will be in route with Deli2Sea branded vehicles
TRANSPORT
- Please Uber or car pool to the start of the race
- Park at Constantia Village and Uber/walk to the start as there is not enough parking at the start
- Please note that parking at start and finish is for your own account
- Kalk Bay traffic is intense on a Sunday, just a heads up
- There is a small 21-seater shuttle at the end that will be able to shuttle runners back to the start if needed (departs on the hour)
EXTRA VIBES
- Free entry to The Shark Education Centre from 08:30 - 13:00 for all participants

Participants have the option of two different entries - the classic entry only ticket, and the charitable entry which includes a R500 donation to the event's beneficiary to support their work. This year's beneficiary is the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation!
Your donations will sustain:
- The Aquarium Foundation's education and outreach programmes, and conservation and research initiatives.
- The Turtle Rescue Programme and Marine Wildlife Management Programme
- The realisation of a dream: the world-class Turtle Hospital

No prizes for fastest or slowest but there will be prizes for most rubbish collected, best

PREPARATION
- Make sure you are at a level of fitness that you can partake and have fun!
- Make your DIY race number and attach it to your running top.
- Wear sunscreen, a hat and safe running shoes. Bring something warm, just in case!
- Don't forget your swimming gear!

- Repurpose old bags to pick up rubbish during your walk/run/wiggle!
ROUTE
Starting from Chardonnay Deli, heading southeast on Constantia Main Road towards Pagasvlei Rd
Turn right onto Pagasvlei Rd
Follow the curve of the road to the right
Turn left onto Croft Rd
Turn Left onto Klein Constantia Rd
Sharp right onto Spaanschemat Rivier Rd
Follow the curve of the road and go through Tokai Park
Continue on Orpen Rd
Stay straight at the roundabout (keeping to the right of it)
Exit the roundabout onto Steenberg Rd
Slight right to stay on Steenberg Rd at the roundabout after Jake’s in the Village
Continue straight on Steenberg Rd
Continue past the Norval Foundation, heading South on Steenberg Rd
Turn right onto Westlake Drive
At the roundabout, take the first exit (turn left) on to Westlake Ave
At the end of Westlake Ave and end of golf course (on left) there will be a refueling station on the right, in the little field.
Turn right to Fueling Station and then continue up Boyes Drive
+- 5km on Boyes Drive
Turn left onto Jacob's Ladder, down the steps
Turn right onto Main Road
600m later, arrive at Dalebrook Cafe Finish Line!

Terms and Conditions - Entry
The official entry form must be completed fully by each intending participant. Completion of the entry form and payment of the entry fee represents acceptance of these terms and conditions.
Entry applications will only be processed after receipt of full payment of the entry fee. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All participants must ensure that they are medically fit to participate in the race.
The organiser reserves the right to contact and interview applicants by phone for additional information required for matters relating to this event.
The organisers will not be responsible for any disputes arising from incomplete/ incorrect entry details.
The organiser reserves the right to refuse entry to applicants who declare false information on their entry form, and do not make the required payment.
The organiser reserves the right to limit or refuse entries and to close entries before the closure deadline without notice, particularly when a specific quota for a race is full.
Entries are not transferable to other persons or to future events.
There will be no fee refunded if the event is cancelled for whatever reason.
Participants are encouraged to arrive at least half an hour before their race start times to allow time for pre-race activities.
All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable under all circumstances, including, but not limited to, cancellation of the event or of the athlete’s participation, or change in the date, nature, or format of the event.
The Deli2Sea Ocean Awareness Event 2022 has an entry limit of 700.
Terms and Conditions - Participation
Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken by the organiser to ensure the participant’s safety, participants run at their own risk and the organisers shall not be liable for any loss and/or damage whether personal or otherwise, and however arising.
Participants are required to make their own race number on a piece of paper and wear it on the front or back of their race-day attire.
Pets are not allowed.
Race numbers are not transferable to other participants.
Participants must start the race at the Chardonnay Deli start line and finish at the Dalebrook Tidal Pool finish line.
Competitors are obliged to follow the instructions of stewards, race officials, marshalls and signposts along the way.
Participants must keep to the designated route, as indicated on the day.
A refreshment station will be provided just after the halfway mark.
No cyclists or vehicles will be permitted to keep pace with athletes, or allowed on the route.
The race organisers reserve the right to accept or reject any entry.
Prams, strollers and standard wheelchairs are permitted in the race, but participation is at their own risk. These participants must assemble at the rear of the start line and give way to athletes at all times.
A runner must retire from the race immediately if required to do so by any member of the official medical team.
Wheelchair participants agree to indemnify the organiser and hold the organiser indemnified and harmless for any injury and death caused to themselves or other persons and to all damage to properties caused by the improper use of the wheelchairs or the defective quality or condition of their wheelchair.
It is the responsibility of the competitor to familiarise themselves with the event’s rules, the race formats, times and routes, and any directions as published in the pamphlet, on social media and in the race pack information email.
The cut-off time is 14:00 on Sunday, 4 December 2022.
If the athlete does not reach the cut-off point within the required time, they will be required to retire from the race or finish the route alone. No collection vehicles will be provided for individuals who do not reach the finish line by 14:00.
Rules and Regulations:
All participants agree to abide by these rules and regulations and comply with all reasonable directions and decisions made by the parties involved in organising this event.
Athletes are required to check all information on their DIY race numbers.
Please include important medical information, pre-existing conditions, allergies and chronic medication, as well as emergency numbers and names thereof.
A template is provided in the gallery. They should be printed or drawn on to A4 pages and worn, secured with safety pins, on the front or back of your top on race day.
Indemnity:
I declare, confirm and agree as follows:
I have read the Rules and Regulations and the Terms and Conditions of Entry and Participation (below and hyperlinked) and agree to participate on the understanding that I will adhere to all the provisions stated therein for the event entered.
I understand the risk of participating including risks associated with the risk of dehydration and the risk of being on a course with vehicle traffic, even if the course may be regulated/policed.
I understand that I must be of, and must train to, an appropriate level of fitness to participate in the event.
I am physically fit and capable of participating in the Event and I have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical practitioner.
I, for myself and my legal representatives, waive all claims of whatsoever nature against any and all sponsors of the event, Deli2Sea Ocean Awareness Event, all political entities, authorities and officials, all contractors and construction firms working on the event, officials and volunteers and all other persons and entities associated with the event and the directors, employees, agents and representatives of all or any of the aforementioned including, without limitation, any claims that light result from my participation in the event and whether on account of illness, injury, death or otherwise.
If I am injured or taken ill or otherwise suffer any detriment whatsoever, I hereby irrevocably authorise the event organisers and officials to transport me to a medical facility and/ or to administer emergency medical treatment and I waive all claims that might result from such transport and/or treatment or delay or deficiency therein. I shall repay or reimburse any of my medical and emergency expenses and I hereby authorise you to incur the same. I shall provide to race officials such medical data relating to me as they may request.
I agree that nothing herein shall oblige the event officials or organisers or any other person to incur any expenses or to provide any transport or treatment.
I understand that by agreeing to these terms and conditions, I consent to the use of my personal data including contact information, motion pictures, recordings or any other records of this event (“information”) for any legitimate purposes, including commercial advertising, marketing of products offered by the Organiser and those offered by sponsors to the Deli2Ocean Awareness Event. I understand that there may be a need to disclose the information to the Organisers affiliate companies, agents, advisors and third-party services (“Other Parties”). Information shall be released to the parties on condition that the other parties handle my information only subject to the organiser's instructions.
If I have under my care or control children below 18 years of age participating in the Event, then I shall ensure that they are accompanied at all times by a responsible adult and understand that the terms and conditions of Entry and Participation and the clauses of the indemnity apply to such children. The parents or guardians will take full responsibility and liability for the minors participating in the event.
I hereby declare that the information provided on my race number is true and correct.
By participating in the Deli2Sea Ocean Awareness Event on 4 December 2022, I agree and confirm that I accept all terms and conditions, waiver policy, and indemnify all organisers involved.
