Spring is Calling: We are back baby!! On our sexy first Wednesday of Spring we're bringing a sizzling hot comedy EXTRAVAGANZA we don’t know what that means, but it’s going to be LIT! On the line-up is multi-talented comic legend Carl Weber who is headlining our Spring special, supported by comic rising stars Arlene Petersen and Jaryd Pillay, hosted by our resident Thato Mabelane.

Coming to you live on the Bay Harbour Market Sound Stage 7 September 2022.

Thato Mabelane

Joburg funny lady who immigrated to Cape Town in 2019.

Described by her peers as the freshest new voices in the industry.

Mabelane is a master story teller whose style of comedy is a trio of wit, personal experience and daily observations.

Quantum physics and rowing the ocean introduced her to the craft back in August of 2014.She hung around since.

Playing in comedy clubs all over South Africa & internationally headlining shows in Singapore and Thailand.

Mabelane is currently touring her debut collab special, Survival of the Funniest which premiered at the Baxter on 26 March 2022, the show is going to Die KoelkamersTeatre in July on 29 July 2022.

One of the challenges comedy faces is spaces to do comedy at, with her passion for comedy, Mabelane runs a monthly comedy shows in Cape Town to enable spaces for both new and established acts to perform their craft.

She is a phenomenal host, warm, witty, entertaining!

Arlene Petersen also known as That Comedy Chick was born and raised in Retreat but moved to Lavenderhill as a teenager where she currently resides. Her comedy style is a mix of social observations, life experiences and talking pure nonsense. She is the only comedienne that had the honour to perform comedy for Y?Gen Entertainment in 2020 and in 2019 she made the top 9 finalists as the only Coloured to perform at the Baxter Theatre for the Kasi World Comedy Show Down battling for a spot at The Cape Town Jive Funny Festival and even though she didn't win the competition she clearly left her mark because she has now been selected to perform at the Cape Town Jive Funny Festival 2022 as the only female on the line up.

Arlene Petersen debuted her collab special with fellow comedian Thato Mabelane titled Survival of the Funniest which was showcased at the Baxter in March 2022.

Jaryd Pillay first hit the stage when he was only 17 years old and has never looked back. He has performed all over the country, including at Rocking the Daisies and at Comedy Mixtape on SABC 2. 

He has a Live Performance BA degree. He presents the tales of a millennial (himself) who navigates an identity crisis, and authentically brings to life the many characters who have challenged his very existence.  

His debut one-man show, Life of Pillay, caught the eyes of the critics at the Arts Festival in 2018. 

In his latest compelling and hilarious hour special Passion of the Curry, Jaryd explores avenues of cultural displacement. He recalls his realization that, as a proud Indian descendent, he shouldn’t be eating curry with a fork and knife, his redemption for his teenage sins, and those Facebook memories that we wish we didn’t recall…
