From the imagination of writer-director Liz Roodt comes this exciting new adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s iconic work, 'The Picture of Dorian Gray'. The classic tale is retold across the '60s, '70s and '80s in a vibrant and energetic new production. It's the age-old tale told through the lens of sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. Bringing this story to life is a cast of 11 talented performers, as well as 4 musical performances created by live musicians.
We meet Dorian Gray in the '60s when he has already become a singer in a popular band called 'Dorian and the Greys'. His music manager and half uncle, Bernard Grosman, pretends to be a supportive father-figure, but in reality views Dorian as his golden goose, and guides him through the '70s and '80s to become a self-indulgent pleasure-seeker. Bernard does not want anyone interfering in his own rise in stature and income, and plays a part in ensuring the demise of both Dorian's girlfriend, Piper and his best friend, Martine.
The production will have a limited season at the historic Masque Theatre, so be sure not to miss this exciting retelling of an iconic tale.
