ABOUT
In this seminar Ronél Smit invites you to share in her 18 years experience working with gifted children. Originally an Occupational Therapist, she ventured into the complex and fascinating world of the uniqueness of gifted children and families as her own children grew up. She currently runs a weekly enrichment program for gifted children, consults a small learning centre for gifted children, supports parents, and is a registered SENG Model Parent Group facilitator. She is passionate about helping people to better understand how to let gifted children flourish.
In this seminar she introduces the different perceptions of what giftedness is, characteristics and traits of this very neurodiverse group, and helps shape your understanding of what is 'normal' for a gifted child. She will look at Dabrowski's 5 Overexcitabilities and how they might influence the daily lives of gifted people. You will also learn more about some common challenges like perfectionism and social isolation, and how to navigate them.
If you are a parent of, or teacher / therapist working with a sensitive, curious, perplexing and intense child, this seminar will bring deeper understanding of your gifted child and provide plenty of practical suggestions, examples and tips to support your family in the challenging but rewarding journey of growing up gifted.
Your ticket includes participation in the seminar as well as tea time and a light lunch.
