ABOUT

The Laughing Stock comedy show is like none other in Cape Town. With a line-up made of exclusively headline-quality acts from around the country, this is the one night of comedy in the city you know will leave you aching from laughter.

This month Gauteng's best are in the house alongside a firm local favourite and icon of SA comedy. Catch Conrad Koch and Chester Missing, freshly back from their smash hit European tour with Pretoria's Nqoba Ngcobo, SAFTA award-winning comedian Hannes Brummer and local underground legend Gino Fernandez.

Hannes Brummer is the funniest man in South Africa, and that's official. The winner of the SAFTA for comedy performance Hannes has been doing standup for 16 years and ripping up stages from Aardklop to Inniebos, and Oppikioppi to Rocking the Daisies. Speaking about his life as a parent, Hannes' manic energy will have you questioning everything you thought you knew about things as simple as a day trip with the kids.

Nqoba Ngcobo is a well-known face around Pretoria. His Grinding Gorilla comedy shows are the absolute heart of Pretoria Comedy, and Nqoba himself is the face of being funny in that city. The host of the biggest monthly music festival, Park Acoustics Nqoba has a cheeky, playful and optimistic energy that leaves you feeling positive even as he leaves you helpless with laughter.

Gino Fernandez has been the bedrock of alternative comedy in Cape Town almost as long as such a thing has existed. While his clever insights will ring true to anyone who grew up in the city, Gino is also prepared to take things to all new places with his punchlines that come out of nowhere. If you haven't seen him before, you are in for a treat.

Conrad Koch and his puppet Chester Missing close out the show. The very best of SA's political comedians, Conrad Koch has been on every debate show in the country, slandered politicians at the official opening of parliament and even won a court case against Steve Hofmeyr. Laced with satire and heavy criticisms of the current state of South Africa, Conrad and Chester's show is nontheless uproariously funny, a fact that's proven by the powerful reviews for his recent Edinburgh Arts Festival show.

Catch the show on Wednesday the 26th of October at 8pm. Tickets are available at Quicket for just R100 and are selling quickly. Don't miss out.

Seating is first come, first served. While the show starts at 8pm, earlier tables for dinner or drinks can be booked with your tickets by calling 021 203 3045.
