More about our Line-up:

The Hugo Veldsman Trio consists of Hugo Veldsman on vocals and guitars, Gustav Franzsen on bass and Johan Pretorius on drums.

Hugo Veldsman is a professional musician who studied classical guitar at Stellenbosch University. He has released a critically acclaimed, full-length album, called 'The Calm Before' and numerous subsequent singles.

His originals are largely folk-rock, often with blues roots. A typical set would also include blues and rock. Hugo's signature use of an acoustic lap-steel called a Weissenborn, gives the band a pretty unique sound.

The band has played at the STRAB, Up The Creek, Zeegunst and Gannaga music festivals. It also played at the inaugural Paternoster Bluesfest and opened the Jim Beam's Welcome Sessions in South Africa with the Dan Patlansky Band at the Daisy Jones Bar.

Blackwood Wendy consists of the aforementioned Hugo Veldsman Trio with the added songwriting skills of Adriaan Thiart, who also sings and plays acoustic guitar.

In Blackwood Wendy, Hugo expresses himself on electric lap-steel and electric guitars. Adriaan is very much influenced by Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave and the band delves in the darker side of folk, rock, and swampy blues.

Although Blackwood Wendy is a relatively new band, it already got rave reviews for its performances at smaller venues and also music festivals like Zeegunst and STRAB.

The Honeymooners is an Acoustic Folk / Country Duo from Johannesburg. They are husband and wife Steve East (also from the well-known Alt. Country band Crystal Park) and Jolene East (aka Jolling). Although only officially forming in 2018, the band has already been chosen to play amazing festivals including the Capital Craft Beer Fest, STRAB, and Zeegunst New Years Fest (from 2018 to 2021), with regular performances at JHB’s legendary Radium Beer Hall, The Green Craft Bars, JARR Bar, Otterlake Restaurant and more.

They have also been lucky enough to share the stage with some of SA’s best talent including Arno Carstens, Koos Kombuis, The Black Cat Bones, Albert Frost, Piet Botha, and many more.

Their live performances are a quirky, fun, and highly entertaining show where the two perform some of Jolene’s original songs, some songs from Steve’s band Crystal Park (done in a very different style), and covers from some of their favorite artists from over the years, including Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Leonard Cohen, White Buffalo, Bright Eyes, Pulp, Fleetwood Mac, Paul Cauthen, Skakey Graves, and Johnny Cash
