National Youth Music Competition 2022 - Finalists' Gala Concert

ABOUT

Twenty upcoming classical music instrumentalists will compete in the 37^th National Youth Music Competition (NYMC) from 5 to 10 December 2022 at the Hugo Lambrechts Auditorium in Parow, Cape Town.

These rising stars from around the country will showcase their musical prowess in what has been described as the most gruelling competition for young musicians in five categories of orchestral musical instruments.

Over five days, they must perform wide-ranging repertoires that cover different style periods and South African compositions.

The finalists will continue the battle for top honours in the final round at the Finalists’ Gala Concert on Saturday 10 December 2022 2 18:00, accompanied by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of maestro Bernard Gueller.
