12 August 2023 sees the launch of COURTSIDE, a series of picnic style events hosted by Roots Up. This all ages matinee will be hosted at the iconic The Barn Owl Tennis Club.
The inaugural event sees the return of the insanely talented Hezron Chetty. COURTSIDE with Hezron Chetty serves as the Durban leg of his new album, Knight Of Cups, launch. The album was written across Italy, South Africa and Germany and recorded by former Medicine Boy member Andre Leo in Berlin. Knight Of Cups is a solo show featuring storytelling and music. Layered violin lines immerse with spoken word and psychedelic,world and experimental sounds. The tale is a deep journey that is an experience as well as a show. The show is a preview of his latest unreleased album and is being played to South African audiences first before a planned European Tour.
Hezron Chetty is an alternative violinist, songwriter and music producer. His music has been described as powerfully emotive and is a multi-genre mix such as World, Jazz, Rock and Psych and Electro music.
Opening for Hezron is local singer/ songwriter Genevieve Owen.
Attendees are to bring their own pillows, blankets or alternative seating as the event will be picnic style on the tennis court. Coffees, mixers and various non-alcoholic beverages will be on sale from The Barn Owl.
Tickets are R150 each with Under 13's getting in for R50. As the event is to be hosted outside, we are reserving the 13 August as a backup date. Should you not be able to make the alternative date, tickets will be refunded.
