Umdoni Park Nature Reserve is situated near Pennington on the South Coast.
The 210ha Umdoni Park, “a gift to the nation”, is an area of exceptional natural beauty. It is managed by the Umdoni Park Trust and derives its name from the Umdoni trees scattered throughout the estate.
Whether you like hiking, running or cycling, make sure you go past the Environmental Centre or Pro Shop to get information. Trails take 15 minutes to 4 hours.
Enjoy excellent bird watching, spotting the nesting crowned eagles as well as the rare and majestic Dahlgrenodendron natalensis tree.
Amid the trails, you’ll find the Umdoni Park Golf Course and restaurant overlooking the ocean. Accommodation, incl. historic Botha House, is available on site.
Places we will visit: The magnificent gorge (bottom and top with view site), waterfall, the old wind mill and pump house, the whale viewing deck, the environmental centre, an old cattle dip, froggie pond, bird hide and other interesting places.
Time: 6.45 for 7am

What to bring: Shoes with good grips (hiking boots, takkies)
snacks, water or cold drinks, plus a backpack to carry all that.
limited to 30 hikers.
If event is cancelled due to bad weather, new date will be given.
Please also note that we need min 15 people to go ahead with this event. if quota not met, event will be cancelled and refund will be processed. no refund/credit if you are a no show!
Drinks/lunch after the hike at the clubhouse! (NO CASH-only cards accepted)
Bring your own towel if you would like to have a shower after the hike!
