ABOUT
CONWONNITé will be performing choir works that remind us of the love that Dirk and Annie Meerkotter had for Choir Music.
The Art shown in this retrospective spans a period of 70 years and was Curated by Gordon Froud
We will also be showing a recreation of the magnificent windows lost when the Lindenpark NG church was razed in 2022.
Conwonnité, a choir founded in 1989 by Mr. Albert Morland to provide an opportunity for ex-members of the Wonderboom High School Choir to continue singing together after matriculating, it has since evolved to include members from a broader community that come from various backgrounds and professions.
The choir has toured and performed across South Africa and has an established reputation as a warm, friendly and “no-fuss” group with good choral sound who are just as comfortable performing at nursing homes and other charitable events as they are performing alongside the best choirs in the world on International stages. Conwonnité won silver at the 10th World Choir Games in 2018, in the champion’s category for mixed adult choirs.
Joining forces with the Wonderboom High School Choir, Conwonnité has performed in two productions for the ATKV at the Aardklop National Arts Festival and traveled overseas on 3 occasions, winning the Grand Prix of the Golden Voices of Barcelona International Competition in Spain and performing in the Sagrada Familia in 2016.
The choir regularly hosts, and performs with, international choirs in Pretoria (Tshwane) and participates in workshops with well known South African and international conductors on a regular basis.
The main idea, however, is to enjoy every moment spent together, sharing a love of music with each other and with audiences.
