Known by many yet not many enough, penned between the lines of awkward and mystic. Hovering the dissonance of right up there but not quite there. The latter, certainly not for a lack of technical ability, but perhaps the apparatus’ reluctance to foreground a certain kind of beauty. Author and main constituent behind Dipoko tsa Dipoko, Modise Sekgothe might be a ghost, a haunting, a poet gone, an etching, a name worthy across time.

This showcase is part of the Naledi Farm artist residency programme. Situated on the foot of the Magalies Mountains and explores the relation between hospitality, seclusion and creativity. In our overly-saturated lives, where we have to be concerned with “what’s next”, it becomes increasingly important for artists to access spaces that are solely conducive to enriching their practice.
