ABOUT

EZINKWENKWEZINI 


A night of cosmic resonance centred in avant-garde expressions of Ba(ntu) music and languages, with original compositions by NjiloNjilo Nkonjana Emnyama Ebhabha Emafini on the voice. 


NjiloNjilo Nkonjana Emnyama Ebhabha Emafini also known as Mpho Ngexe is a 23 year old South African composer and performer (voice), their artist identity is in honour of their maternal lineage (Jalamba kaTshezi). Their music is centred in astronomical and natural cycles relative to the Earth (self) experience through Xhosa lyrical expressions, piano harmony and Bantu rhythm. 


Performances will feature Lebogang Komane trumpet, Vuyo Nkasawe piano, Tiana Amari bass and Nkanyezi Ngwenya drum-kit. The show will be live at Selective Live in Cape Town on the 18th of March, the last weekend before the Autumn new moon. The show starts at 8pm, we will use the space to express gratitude and to reflect on our time under the divine light as the sun moves away from southern Earth, bringing the cosmic principle of transmutation.
