Course Facilitator: Rev Dennis Beeselaar LTh, MTh(Stell)
Who is Dennis Beeselaar?
Dennis has pastored two churches.
He studied at the Baptist Theological Seminary in Cape Town and obtained a Licentiate in Theology.
He obtained his MTh in clinical pastoral care and counselling at Stellenbosch University.
He served as Manager and clinical pastoral counsellor at a psychiatric clinic and TB/HIV and Aids hospital.
He also served as Director of Philippi Trust S A, a registered Non-Profit Christian organisation that offers counselling training and Christian counselling.
He assisted in the development of numerous counselling courses covering HIV/Aids, burnout, trauma, depression, stress and anxiety
Dennis is affiliated with the Council for Pastoral and Spiritual Counsellors (CPSC) and registered as Religious Specialist – Category 6. He developed five one-day courses registered with CPSC and accredited for Continued Professional Development (CPD) points, of which this course is one.
He served at Rosebank Union Church for over thirteen years and has since relocated to Durbanville.
His passion is to equip the local church with pastoral care and counselling skills to minister to those in need.
Dennis is married to Jackie, and they have two children, Annari, Gabri and grandchildren, Ann and John
Who is this course for?
- Any CPSC registered counsellors wishing to obtain CPD points.
- Any lay or pastoral counsellors wishing to extend their knowledge
- Any interested person dealing with the topic covered. No prior knowledge/experience is required.
What will you learn?
The course will cover the following topics:
- Formulating, differentiating and defining terminology such as stress, grief, trauma etc.
- Stages of stress
- Analysing and interpreting the 'diagrams of stress'
- Maladaptive stress responses
- Personality problems as it relates to eustress, stress and distress
- Emotional problems as it relates to eustress, stress and distress
- A Biblical paradigm for dealing with stress from the Psalms
- Understanding grief and the grief/loss cycle
- Understanding the Kubler-Ross model of grief
- Understanding trauma and the trauma response
- Processing and dealing with trauma
- Trauma from a Biblical perspective
The course will also be interactive, and participants are expected to engage and partake in activities and group work and complete the required homework before the commencement of the second day.

Booking Details
- In-Person Event: Limited to 20 trainees
- Cost: R 1 250 per person for the 2-day course PLUS booking fee and commission (As a registered non-profit, we ask trainees to please cover our booking fees. The course fee covers the trainer costs, IP course costs, refreshments and workbook.)
