Family fun to celebrate Freedom Day in the rustic beauty of the Durban Upper Highway.

After the massive success of our inaugural Freedom Day Youth Music Festival in 2022, the bar has been raised for the 2023 edition.

Music groups and ensembles from many from across KZN will again descend on the beautiful landscape at Fig Trees Farm in Hillcrest, where the stage will be set for a day of music, fun, picnics and the spirit of Ubuntu.

This year, the festival grounds are moved to a newer, better location where neither the audience nor the performers have to stare into the sun, with a bigger stage and more space for the audience to sit.

We also have the rare opportunity to be entertained in the same concert by our three provincial youth music ensembles, the KZN Youth Choir, the KZN Youth Orchestra and the KZN Youth Wind Band, performing at the event along with schools such as St Anne’s College, St Mary’s DSG, Reddam House Umhlanga, Glenwood High School, Durban Girls’ College, Westville Senior Primary, St Benedict’s School, St Henry’s Marist Brothers, Highbury Preparatory, Eshowe High School, Pinetown Girls’ High School, Maritzburg Christian School, Treverton School Mooi River, Imbeleko Academy and Key of Hope Children's Choir.

As always, Kearsney College Choir and Orchestra will entertain audiences with their unique brand of energetic music and dancing. 

Bring along your own picnic baskets and blankets, or come and sample some of the delicious food and drinks on offer at the venue.
