ABOUT

Singin’ in the Rain (1952) is a bright iconic American musical. It's a “spoof” set in 1920s, showing the transition from silent movies to talkies. During this transition, romantic duo Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont find themselves having to talk and sing, not just act; however, only Don has the voice for the task. With Lina’s ghastly tone and accent, the scene is set for bright young aspiring actress Kathy Seldon to step forward and be her voice and in the process finds romance as well as a career. Sharing the lively scenes and songs are colourful characters and a busy, vital ensemble who all “gotta sing”.

Join The Drama Lab students as they raise the roof with exuberance and talent. Adult audiences will love the vintage tunes and music style. The antics of the charming characters in Singin’ in the Rain JR will resonate with children. With just a touch of romance and one sultry moment (mild), this is a true family outing. The Drama Lab is known for our costumes and professional lighting rig, which provides a true theatre experience for the audience and the hungry cast of young actors. The 47 strong cast ranges in age from 8-18 years and the principals are double cast playing ensemble and principal roles.

Zoe Copeland has been diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease, called Stargardts Disease. It is a progressive form of macular dystrophy which will cause her retina to slowly die, leading to eventual loss of eyesight. The family's plan is to build as many memories through experiences as they can, so as to "bank memories" for Zoe to hold onto in the future.
