GAZE
Consisting of Lauren Thomas (vocals), Reggie Pienaar (guitar), Desmond Kannemeyer (guitar), Dan Charles (bass) and Keagan Hollywood (drums) - GAZE began as somewhat of a Julia Jacklin/Phoebe Bridgers cover band before gradually evolving into an amalgamation of the guitar-driven intensity of ‘90s alt-rock & shoegaze, and the lush, melodic sensibilities of melancholic dream-pop.
Orah & The Kites
Orah & The Kites are a melancholic alternative folk band based in Cape Town, South
Africa. The band formed in 2016 by Ntokozo Mzimela (Keys/Vocals/Guitar) with best
friends Teagyn Gracey (Vocals/Saxophone) and Jaimie De Klerk (Synth/Vocals).
The trio soon expanded to include Tristan De Beer (Lead Guitar/Vocals) and Kieron
Brown (Bass/Vocals) in 2018 and they now welcome Giovanni Serci on drums.
The Orah & The Kites soundscape is forever evolving but is rooted in an appreciation for
vocal harmony and the meditative cathartics of melody repetition.
Orah & The Kites have played at local venues such as The Raptor Room, The Gin Bar,
Cafe Roux and more. The band has also graced the stages of local festivals such as
Muizenbergs Concert in the Park in 2017, Garden State Festival alongside Kyp Malone,
Dave Depper and Laura Burhenn, Design Ndaba, Endless Daze 2019 and Up The Creek
2020.
