The Soweto Uprisings(or Soweto riots) were a series of demonstrations and protests led by black school children in South Africa under apartheid that began on the morning of 16 June 1976. Students from various schools began to protest in the streets of Soweto in response to the introduction of Afrikaans as the medium of instruction in black schools. It is estimated that 20,000 students took part in the protests. They were met with fierce police brutality and many were shot and killed. The number of pupils killed in the uprising is usually estimated as 176, but some sources estimate as many as 700 fatalities. The riots were a key moment in the fight against apartheid as it sparked renewed opposition against apartheid in South Africa both domestically and internationally. In remembrance of these events, 16 June is now a public holiday in South Africa, named Youth Day.

Relevancy Today:

The Youth in any Civilisation are the foundational building & working force simply because they possess the highest Energetic Vitality of the Collective/Population/Kingdom/Tribe. In 1994 when South Africa transitioned from the Apartheid Regime Laws to Democratic Republic Laws the Youth unemployment rate was 10% in a Population of 50Million which is +-5Million Humans. As of May 2023 the Youth unemployment rate is 33% in a Population of 60Million, which is +-20Million Humans in their highest Energetic Vitality not being given the culture/environment in which to contribute to building(& thriving) their future & their Children's Children's' future. It is our duty as the Youth to come together outside of a broken System in harmony & synergistically co-create a culture/environment in which we are able to build, thrive & truly live in Unity Consciousness for the benefit of our Children's Children And Beyond.

What To Expect: 

The Youth Rising Retreat was conceptualised & created in 2020 by Baba Lex as a means to provide a space where Youth may come together to partake in Self-Development Activities/Coaching, Holistic Healing Modalities/Techniques/Tools, African Spirituality, Ancestral Re-Connection, African History, Independent/Entrepreneurial Mind Set Coaching & Networking.
