SAFCEI's Way Beyond Nuclear Fundraising Dinner

Thu Nov 3, 18:00 - Thu Nov 3, 21:00

Kings Club, Sahara Kindsmead Cricket Stadium

ABOUT

Join Safcei [Southern African Faith Communities Environmental Institute] for a fine dining experience and an opportunity to explore the real cost of the nuclear build, and the legacy we are leaving for future generations.
Support our nuclear court challenge, in which we question the transparency, legality and real motives behind the nuclear deal. Court dates are now set for December 14th and 15th.  Help to realise South Africa’s energy potential in a way that benefits the economy, our people and the earth.

Talks and conversations with:
Kumi Naidoo, former Executive Director of Greenpeace International and South African human rights activist
Venerable Ani Tsondru, Buddhist Nun and Executive Director of SAFCEI
Desmond D’Sa, environmental activist of the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance
Makoma Lekalakala, Earthlife Africa JHB

We have reached a pivotal point in South Africa’s energy decision making process, and we must ensure that the right decisions are made. Our nuclear procurement court challenge will be heard this December, and we need to prevent this deal.

Nuclear energy, a dangerous distraction from the true answers to South Africa’s energy crisis, will have grave consequences for our social development, as money that is needed to address our education, housing and healthcare problems is spent on something we don’t even need. The impact of the nuclear deal will dwarf that of the arms deal in scope and potential for corruption.

If you cannot support us in person, please donate a ticket – and be part of safeguarding our democracy and energy future.
