DIRECTIONS TO WINFORD:
Coming from Glencairn side:
- The Indian Ocean will be on your left, before Simonstown you will see a new mall on your right called Harbour Bay. At these robots turn right up Dido Valley Road.
- You’ll pass the Scratch Patch on your left; keep going ‘til you see a turn off to the LEFT to Navy barracks, called SCALA Barracks - (at the huge cleared plot of land). Turn left here.
- Keep going straight, through navy barracks, through a gate (you'll see an old camp cannon on the hill off to your left) and when you get to end of this little road the road in front of you is Red Hill road; turn right up the hill (Up Red Hill Road)
- As you pass Blue Horizon look out point on your left. continue for 1.5Km.
- When you start coming over the rise of the hill, you’ll see the Atlantic Ocean in front of you, and some big pine + gum trees on your right.
- You will then see a little dirt track to your right. Turn right in there (there's a sign that says Winford and another saying "Slow. Tortoises")
- Our cottage is a little further (about 50m) down the dirt track. Drive along this little dirt track until you get to a fork in the track...Keep left - You’ll see a paved red driveway reaching down to the left. We are the stone cottage on the right.
Coming from Scarborough side:
- Continue through Scarborough and its last stop street until you get to a split in the road. The right fork would take you to Cape Point. You need to take the LEFT fork that says Red Hill.
- Head up Red Hill, passing the informal settlement on your left, and just near the top of the hill you will see a white house on left. About 20m after the house is a small dirt track also on your left with a sign saying "Winford" (and a sign saying "Slow. Tortoises").
- Turn left in here.
- Our cottage is a little further (about 50m) down the dirt track. Drive along this little dirt track until you get to a fork in the track...Keep left - You’ll see a paved red driveway reaching down to the left. We are the stone cottage on the right.
**Note that cellphone signal is almost non-existent once you get onto Red Hill road, especially on weekends, so if you get lost, you'll just need to drive a bit further on to give me a ring.
