ABOUT
Increasing temperatures and sea levels, changing precipitation patterns and more extreme weather are threatening human health and safety, food and water security and socio-economic development across the globe, but even more acutely in Africa. Agriculture is the backbone of Africa’s economy and accounts for the majority of livelihoods across the continent. Africa is therefore an exposure and vulnerability “hot spot” for climate variability and change impacts.
Encouragingly, Africa boasts a seemingly limitless potential for renewable energy, which can be harnessed to provide reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy solutions for all. Join us as our speakers explore the impact that climate change has on agriculture and the threat it poses to social and economic development in Africa. Speakers will also explore the ways in which these challenges can be addressed, as well as how the continent can become more resilient to the climate crisis.
