Wheel Throwing for beginners (Hangklip-Kleinmond Ceramic & Porecelain Festival)

Sat Sep 23, 09:30 - Sun Sep 24, 13:30

The Shed

ABOUT

We all remember making mud pies, farm animals and clay balls to pelt each other with. The joy of digging into the ground to grab a handful of clay, the sticky mess that could be moulded and formed into small oxen, tiny houses, and imaginary food items and the fun of running away from the incoming sting of a "klei lat" still live in our memories. Clay has been a joyful, tactile and therapeutic experience for most of us as children.

Now you have the chance to channel this sentiment into a wheel throwing experience for the complete beginner.

If you have ever wondered why Demi was concentrating so much, or how easy it looks to make a cup or bowl on

the wheel then this course is for you.

Small class size with a short demo and then hands on (literally) assistance will give you a sense of what this feels like

and whether it could be your dream hobby.

This is an experiential course and there will be failures for sure which is part of the fun. We want you to remember

this day and that is why you will get to choose one of your creations to keep.

It will be fired and glazed in a studio

glaze and shipped to you at an additional cost of R80.00 or can be collected from the studio once fired.

MATERIALS SUPPLIED:

6 x 300 g clay for each participant to practice with

1 made item will be retained - this will be fired and glazed in a studio glaze
