To end off the exhibition, a fundraiser will be held for the NPO, with special guest speaker popular calligraphy artist Faheem Rhoda Jackson, whose work is vital to the closing story of ‘Tulis. Jackson introduces us to the history of writing and Janubi script, and the importance and relevance of preserving this practice. It is initially based on the writing of the early Muslims at the Cape.
The artist will share his work that plays an important role in South African calligraphy. He presents his outstanding work and offers a discussion that will open more dialogue and serves to preserve the art that has become the future of South African calligraphy. Guests will be shown examples of his work, with a Q&A following the talk.
To support the work we do, we encourage everyone to purchase a ticket. Even if they do not attend the fundraiser, their tickets will be entered into the draw. New artwork by the artists will be alternated on this day. Entry fee for Sunday will be R150. Doors open at 10am and the discussion by Jackson takes place from 11am-12pm. Early birds catches the Koesisters; and hot and cold beverages will be on sale. ALL tickets purchased will be entered into a draw and winners will be contacted directly by the NPO, the spot prize includes Afternoon Tea for 2 by the One and Only Hotel worth R900 and much more up for grabs!
