About INSPIRE
INSPIRE is a newly established non-profit organisation, which aims to advance social development in renewable energy through building skills and capacity, and developing practices, systems and relationships which support a transformational and just energy transition. INSPIRE’s key ambitions are to:
- Cultivate leadership for a people-centered transition.
- Enhance capacity within the renewable energy ecosystem to maximise economic development and transformation potential.
- Professionalize the field of social performance in renewable energy.

INSPIRE acknowledges/recognises the often overlooked and undocumented wealth of learnings and experience of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Program (REIPPPP) in clean energy policy and socio-economic implementation.
INSPIRE is practitioner-led and boasts a strong network of peers and organisations involved in utility-scale renewable energy across South Africa and the continent, including community shareholding trusts.
