Many people in Plett- even those who have lived here for years- are unaware of the beautiful Langkloof valley and its fruit farms which lie beyond our mountains and Formosa Peak on either side of the R62 between Avontuur and Kareedouw.
Many have never even driven up to Avontuur along our breathtaking Prince Alfred’s Pass.
The Zondagh family have farmed in the area for 9 generations, and we are delighted to welcome Jimmy Zondagh as our speaker on Thursday 19th October.
Jimmy will tell us a bit about the area and how his family came to settle in Avontuur and how the fruit industry developed and grew.
He will also tell us about his Belle-Vue Museum and the fascinating history of the area including Kommandant Scheepers and the British Boer War forts.
