Join Advocate Tladi from the PPRA as he unpacks the new Property Practitioners Act (PPA), designed for increased support and regularisation of the immovable property professions. The Act broadens the definition of a property practitioner substantially to include anybody who, for the acquisition of gain or remuneration, sells, leases or manages property. It also includes property and asset and portfolio managers who manage properties on behalf of another party. All those defined as property practitioners need to be registered as property practitioners with the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority. The PPRA replaces the Estate Agency Affairs Board with an expanded mandate to govern the property profession and other previously excluded professions rather than only estate agents.
Dr. – Adv. Jan Tladi has a PhD in Corporate Governance. He has published research articles in the following fields: corporate governance, public administration, real estate, human settlements and law. He has worked for various government departments and public sector organisations over a period of 27 years. He is currently employed by the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority as its Legal Adviser. Over this illustrious career, he has acquired profound knowledge and skills in the following fields: employment equity and transformation; human resources planning, management and development; corporate services; legal services; general public administration; human settlements development; property market regulation. He resolutely believes in championing and embracing underlying ubuntu values in everyday life in African workplaces and South African workplaces in particular.
