Coincidentally released amid the proliferation of a global pandemic, it takes on new meanings: a collective record of the apocalypse, a sonic time capsule left to be found buried in the sand by some future explorer. The group’s first LP, Wisdom of the Elders, served as a warning of things to come, but this tale reads as a statement of fact, a record of the wrongs and missteps that led to our own demise." Shabaka and the Ancestors are embarking on the final tour as the closing chapter of this transatlantic superband. Due to Shabaka putting down the tenor sax in 2024 the "We were sent here by history" tour is the final tour for the foreseeable future and what better way to end this than in the country that birthed and fueled this band. Due to the Covid pandemic the band never got to perform this sophomore album so this would be the first and last time that audiences get to experience this album.
