Join us for an unforgettable overnight hike to Tugela Falls in the majestic Drakensberg Mountains!

Tugela Falls, also known as the Amphitheatre/Sentinel Peak Hike, is one of South Africa’s most iconic hikes—and for good reason. It’s the tallest multiple-drop waterfall in the world, with a staggering total drop of 983 meters.

You’ll spend the night near the top of the waterfall, taking in some of the most breathtaking views on the planet.

The Drakensberg Escarpment stretches over 200km, with an average drop of 1,000m along its length.

Hike Distance: Approximately 13km

Duration: About 4 hours up, 3 hours down

Important: This hike is not suitable for beginners or casual hikers due to the elevation gain and altitude. You will need to carry your own overnight backpack. It is strongly recommended to complete at least 3 training hikes with a full backpack before the event.

What to Bring:

For camping:

Lightweight tent

Sleeping bag (0-degree rating recommended)

Inflatable pillow (or use your jacket)

Insulated sleeping mat

Towel

Lightweight shoes (for camp)

Lunch for both days

Headlamp

Note: The weather in the Berg is highly unpredictable, so this event will proceed rain or shine and will only be canceled or postponed under extreme conditions (extreme heat/cold, hail, or heavy rain). A little rain won’t hurt—plus, it keeps the bugs away!

Grade 1: Easy. Minimal fitness required.

Grade 2: Not too strenuous. Moderate fitness.
