ABOUT

In this Systems Thinking workshop we'll explore how to understand and navigate the complexity of interconnected systems in today's world. Systems thinking offers a powerful approach to solution-finding by focusing on the relationships between components rather than just individual parts. In this workshop, you'll learn how to view challenges holistically, identify patterns and feedback loops, and appreciate the dynamic interactions that shape outcomes. Whether you're tackling organizational issues, environmental challenges, or societal challenges, systems thinking provides the tools to develop more effective and sustainable solutions.

This programme is intended for managers in all economic sectors. These managers would typically be top and second level managers such as heads of department, section heads or divisional heads, who may have more than one team reporting to them.

The overall objective of this highly interactive 3-day programme is to empower managers at all levels with tools, techniques and skills to face challenging situations, make sound decisions and implement those decisions within their own area of responsibility.

The objectives of this programme include:

  • Understand Core Concepts: Gain a solid understanding of the fundamental principles of systems thinking, including elements, interconnections, feedback loops, and emergent properties.
  • Apply Systems Thinking Tools: Learn and practice using key systems thinking tools, such as causal loop diagrams and systems maps, to analyse complex situations.
  • Identify and Analyse Interconnections: Identify and analyse the relationships and interdependencies within a system, recognising how changes in one part of the system can impact the whole.
  • Explore Real-World Applications: Explore how systems thinking can be applied to various fields such as business, healthcare, education, and environmental management, through case studies and practical examples.
  • Develop Problem-Solving Strategies: Develop strategies for addressing complex challenges by applying systems thinking to real-world challenges, considering long-term impacts and potential unintended consequences.
  • Challenge Mental Models: Learn to recognise and challenge your own mental models, fostering a more open-minded and comprehensive approach to solution-finding.
  • Foster Collaborative Thinking: Enhance your ability to work collaboratively, using systems thinking to engage diverse perspectives and create more effective solutions.

Futurists regard Systems Thinking as one of the critical skills for leaders of the 21st Century.
