SAVE THE DATE for Cape Town’s biggest Ballroom event to close out 2023

Are you ready for our Grand March!? We declare this to be a day of hope, a day of celebration and unity.

Ballroom is the term to describe what started as an underground LGBTQ+ subculture. That has since grown and flourished into a global counter cultural phenomenon. Originated by young African-American and Latinx American individuals in New York City, USA, in which people walk (or compete) for prizes and status at events known as balls.

Runway with a Twist

The Category is "Rebellion on the Runway." Show us your inner rebel. That part of you that has disagreed or out right reered against the status quo of an oppressive capitalist, patriarchal machine. We're moving beyond the binary. We want to see you serve both European and American Runway like the twistiest twister in the building. Bring it to the Runway as your most defiant self...now twist!

Best Dressed

The Category is "Wear your Statement." Give us more than aesthetic pleasure. Shake the the room with what your ensemble says to the world. Fashion is a universal language. Bring it to the runway using your image to speak up and make your statement.

Body

The category is "My Body, My Beliefs." As Sovereign beings whose bodies have been put in harms way simply for embodying our personal truths, our beliefs. We step onto the runway to be celebrated for the radical act of self-acceptance and its resulting empowerment. Bring it to the runway emboldened by your beliefs and BODY this runway.

Sex Siren

The category is "Erotic Emancipation." There is nothing more powerful than our conscious eros, our erotic intelligence our sexual energy. In our endeavor to emancipate ourselves from the shackles of Patriarchal Imperialist Empire. Bring it to the runway as the Personification of your Emancipated Sexuality.

OTA Performance

The category is "The Power of Pussy." Let the feminine rise! To birth this culture, femme queens have been on the Frontline. Leading the exodus out of spaces in which queer bodies of colour were continually marginalized and discriminated against. Fighting and breaking down doors to ensure that we benefit from the human rights and privileges that are supposed to be afforded us by birth. We must never forget the roots of this culture. Which is activism, protest and world making in community. Bring it to the runway channeling a femme queen foremother that inspires you and the way you Vogue down.
