ABOUT
Learn to spin your own yarn on an Ashford traditional spinning wheel.
Start off with a drop spindle and learn the techniques of how to spin wool, and then move onto a spinning wheel.
First spin undyed merino wool, and then proceed to spinning a mini hand-dyed fibre braid and rolag.
Plying will be demonstrated - if time allows, you will have the opportunity to ply the yarn you have spun.
Use of spinning equipment is provided.
Students will take home the yarn that they have spun during the workshop.
Please note entry into Kirstenbosch is not included in the ticket price but participants only pay R60 student entrance fee on presentation of their Quicket booking ticket.
