Badgers FC presents BOOTS & BEATS. The very first instalment of the Cape Town based female-powered club’s venture into off-the-field entertainment. It promises to be a night to indulge in the music, raffles, foosball, food and drinks on offer. Bring your friends with or without benefits, your 1v1 dance partner, your future fellow football fan, your mom, your dad’s jersey, anything goes. 

All ticket sales go straight to the club’s operational costs that help 144 girls and women from Cape Town and surrounds with professional coaching, safe transport to games and back, access to education and of course the all-round life skills to be ferociously awesome human beings.

We’ve curated a night to achieve every single one of your party goals. From the enchantingly cool Annika, the foot-stomping energy of murray., to the electrifying fusion of sax and electronic music of Tim Welsh - this is not your everyday school night. 

Annika

Annika Nel is the silky voice that will transport you to warm, laid-back places from where you won't want to return. A computer whizz by day, and a defender on the football pitch by night, she dedicates all her free time to crafting exquisite Neo-Soul and R&B vocal covers of her favourite artists, including Amy Winehouse, Corinne Bailey Rae, Steve Lacy, Cat Stevens, Koos Kombuis and Laurika Rauch. She accompanies her stripped-down songs with intricate and interesting guitar arrangements, which she expertly uses to fill the gaps between words.

If you wander down the brick-paved roads of Cape Town looking for a night to remember; chances are you will find a group of 5 beanie-wearing musicians holding court with strong grooves, indie-rock anthems and an aptitude for ass-shaking that's frankly, remarkable. Often compared to groups like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews Band and The Killers; murray. boxes it up, ties it with a bow and delivers an adventure that leaves you begging to come along for the ride. Tim Welsh

Tim Welsh knows his way around a saxophone and then takes it to the next level with his electronic fusions. Having performed in 11 countries with countless bands, Tim has finessed his craft to a point where at 28 years old he is one of the most sought after performers in SA. After completing his BMus Jazz honours degree at UCT, and then a Sound Production certificate at SAE, Tim focused on producing his own music as well as creating tracks for other artists, collaborating with many talented musicians along the way. Apart from his busy performance schedule as one of the members of GoodLuck, Tim wears the hat of director and co-founder at Get Lucky Entertainment, an esteemed entertainment agency specializing in private events across South Africa.
