ABOUT
Join us for a captivating evening of world-class music as Quiet Life proudly presents the extraordinary talents of rising indie-rock outfit, Coasters and prog-psych instrumentalists, Yndian Mynah live on stage at The Avalon Auditorium, Homecoming Centre in Cape Town.
Coasters
Made up of Katarina (vocals, music and lyrics) and Luke (multi-talented musician and producer), Coasters met through mutual music friends and quickly realised their creative compatibility. Their connection swiftly grew into a deep friendship and musical partnership resulting in a long- awaited exploration of their favourite genres.
In 2023, Coasters released their debut album, ‘Heartbreak Looks Good On You’ and began performing regularly at music venues and festivals. The duo quickly gained traction and landed shows opening for local legends such as Jeremy Loops and Will Linley. Guided by heartfelt lyrics, seamless chords and captivating synths, Coasters are a harmonious blend of sounds - indie and electro pop with a dash of psych rock - that transcends you through a wave of emotions. And while their music resonates with themes of love and grief, the raw and mesmerising vocals of Katarina enhanced by Lukes's mood enhancing instrumentals can break your heart and sew it back together again.
Yndian Mynah
Yndian Mynah, is a South African instrumental band based in Cape Town. Their sound can be described as post-rock music with hints of dreamy psychedelia, post-punk and prog rock that vacillate sounds between explosive edges and nostalgic narratives. Influenced by DIY culture, the band started off by playing tightly packed intimate floor shows and quickly elevated to festival stages across South Africa. Staying away from conventional rock music, Yndian Mynah is not bound by language or genre, allowing for impressive high-energy live shows that focus on a visual and instrumental journey, left wide open for personal interpretation. Expect large guitar-driven songs led by spontaneous structural changes, with a tendency for heavy breakdowns and momentary euphoria.
