ABOUT
Flux Trio, showcasing the rarely-heard combination of flute (Liesl Stoltz), saxophone (Paul Richard), and piano (Esthea Kruger), effortlessly weaves through different styles and countries in a programme of accessible twentieth and twenty-first century music. This concert offers a snapshot of the beauty and chaos of modern life, where you can expect to hear everything from techno beats and Middle Eastern influences to traffic noises and the sounds of nature.
Audience members can look forward to three world premieres of South African compositions, including two written by Paul Richard, the trio’s saxophonist and teacher at Hoërskool Jan van Riebeeck. The program also features works by internationally recognized American composers Lowell Liebermann and Russell Peterson, eclectic French composer Guillaume Connesson, Brazilian folk-influenced composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, and South Africa’s own Hendrik Hofmeyr.
As always, a complimentary glass of wine courtesy of Jacob’s Vinyards rounds off the the musical experience.
