Life In Tune; A Malcolm The Psychedelic Showcase

ABOUT

This is a story of my life in tune as a man, a myth and a legend. My name is Mbongeni Yaka.

The music expresses what I see and feel, who I am as a person, my faith and beliefs of

being an African man. In this series we will dig deep into the trial and tribulations of where I

come from and where I am going, I will explore the vast ocean that is the identity of Hip Hop

in different concepts, from beat making to live instrumentation and of course including my

native tongue formerly known as ‘’isiXhosa’’. The sound feels like the Millennial era of Boom

Bap and lyricism with a mix of traditional rhythm known as ‘’Spaza’’.

Growing up in a rural area called ‘’Kwelerha’’ in East London (Eastern Cape) I realised from

a very young age that I have a gift and my medium of choice is through art and music.

There’s a saying that goes ‘’it takes a village to raise a child’’ and with this showcase I want

to share that kindness by welcoming you into my world.
