ABOUT
Celebrate South African culture at the ORIGINAL Mampoer Festival.
The DITSONG: Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum is proud to announce the return of the ORIGINAL Mampoer Festival – a celebration of traditional mampoer, craft beer, liqueur, and several gin and wine tastings. Activities include boeresport, boer-dra-‘n-vrou race, vintage cars, an eclectic range of stalls and live music on Saturday, 29 June 2024.
This traditional festival will take place at the DITSONG: Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum grounds and promises to be a vibrant showcase of South African culture.
Mampoer, a traditional fruit-based liquor, holds a special place in South African heritage, and the festival offers attendees the opportunity to taste a variety of flavours and learn about the history and craft of mampoer making. Visitors can also enjoy live music, traditional performances and explore the Museum’s exhibits.
“We are excited to host the Mampoer Festival once again and share this important part of South African culture with our community”, said Julia Roelofse, Site Curator at the DITSONG: Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum. “The festival is a wonderful opportunity for people to come together, celebrate and learn about the rich traditions surrounding mampoer”. We haven’t forgotten the children who can ride on ponies, camels, try their hand at target shooting and enjoy tractor and train rides too.
The festival will run from 08h00 to 17h00 on Saturday 29 June 2024 at the DITSONG: Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum.
Don’t miss this chance to experience the taste of tradition at the Mampoer Festival.
