ABOUT

WAM (The Johannesburg WA Mozart Society) is proud to present Gruffydd Wyn and Amira Willighagen in concert for an afternoon of musical delights. They will be supported by the WAM Choir and Orchestra conducted by Schalk van der Merwe, with a special guest appearance from the Welsh Male Voice Choir of South Africa in what promises to be an unforgettable show. The programme ranges from immortal classics such as Nessun Dorma through hits from film and musical theatre, and fan favourites such as the evergreen My Heart Will Go On.


Gruffydd Wyn is a classical crossover artist hailing from the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales. He received widespread acclaim as a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent, and has toured widely across the United Kingdom since.


Amira Willighagen was born in Nijmegen, The Netherlands and came to public attention at the age of nine, when she won Holland’s Got Talent. She has since delighted audiences around the world with her performances, working with many international stars.


WAM (The Johannesburg WA Mozart Society) is a diverse and dynamic ensemble, excelling in bringing a rich tapestry of serious music, stage works as well as popular numbers (including items from musicals and movies), to the South African cultural scene. Apart from giving excellent performances on its own, WAM also regularly works with local and international professional artists.


The Welsh Male Voice Choir of South Africa (Côr Meibion Cymru de Affrig) prides itself on offering a quality and entertaining cross-section of songs including a number of songs in the Welsh choral tradition under the leadership of a professional team of Musical Directors and Accompanists.
