Afro-Guarde Jazz Concert with 'Jazzman' Majola.
Bongani Majola is a self-taught trumpeter who started his music career at age 8, in a Sharpeville church in the late eighties.
While seeking political asylum abroad he met other independent musicians from different parts of the world and switched from gospel to jazz.
He has collaborated with Koko Gcinumzi Duke. the late Thami "Makatara" Ntshingwa, Ntsizwa Msibi, Mado Teatea, Mzwabantu Qqomfa, Tato Nane from Tanzania, and Rene and Carlos from Brazil.
With his group, Mafube, formed in the village of Bagomoyo, Tanzania, he performed all over Tanzania including the International School of Tanganyika. The band then went to Harare in Zimbabwe and performed at places such as George Hotel and Satchmo Pub.
In 2004 Bongani, affectionately known as 'Jazzman' participated in "Music without Limits" in Eindhoven the Netherlands. The project, organised by the Bureau of International Coordination included the Eindhoven and the Emfuleni local municipalities.
In 2016, he performed at Jazz on the River at Dickinson Park organised by Jcee Entertainment. He has worked with Bra Mc Coy Mrubatha in several gigs in Sharpeville at the Vaal.
