The Buddy Wells Quartet and guest artist Sibu Mashiloane (keyboards) present a concert at Christ Church Constantia on Sunday 4th August at 3pm. The quartet includes Reza Khota (guitar), Josh Nemaire (bass) and Jonno Sweetman (drums). Mark Fransman is no longer available to play.



Top SA jazz saxophonist Buddy Wells performed at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival every year from 2000 to 2019 and is a regular performer at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown and the Joy of Jazz festival in Johannesburg. International performances include several North Sea Jazz Festivals in the Netherlands; the Swedish Jazz Celebration, Stockholm; and the National Jazz Scene in Oslo, the Nehru Centre in Mumbai India, the Festival d'Automne à Paris, and the Oslo Jazz festival.


Buddy's current projects include The Buddy Wells Quintet, The Reza Khota Quartet, The Asher Gamedze Quartet, John Hassan's Hassan'adas and The Adamu Trio.

Sibusiso Mash Mashiloane is a Durban-based South African pianist and composer of remarkable skill and passion, hailed as an authority on South African music. After exploring his craft for more than 20 years, seeking to capture its essence and the feeling of being "at home" through sound, he is currently in the final stage of his PhD at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where he also lectures in music theory and jazz piano.


Since 2016, Mashiloane has released an album a year, winning 8 awards and being nominated for 10 more, including the SAMAs, Urban Music, Mzantsi Jazz, Humanities and Social Sciences Award and AFRIMA Awards. His extraordinary list of collaborations with some of the top South African musicians spans over a decade, and he has also performed in several countries, including Tanzania, the USA, the UK and Mozambique.
