ABOUT

Coming Clean

The 5th March marks the day, 15 years ago, that local comedian, Chantal Harris, drove into rehab with a double shot Bloody Mary in hand to come clean. Actually it may have been a triple shot - but who’s counting?

ADHD, the Bottle and Me - Harris takes you down the path of alcohol addiction and the link to her ADHD diagnosis. A newcomer to the Gqeberha comedy circuit, with an irreverent sense of humour and optimistic outlook, Harris seeks to make sense of all the bad decisions and wrong turns she has made throughout her life. And fervently hopes that this comedy lark is not another one!

Follow along on her journey of discovery and recovery. “It will be a little bit funny, maybe a little bit sad, but hopefully useful to many, “says Harris.

Directed by Sophie Joans, multi award winning actor, playwright, comedian and director, the show is a work in progress with strong legs. Joans’ innate love of the bizarre and vast experience on and off stage, brings additional layers of comedy to this show.

“Chantal’s writing is witty and endearing, filled with delightful twists in a powerful story. Her performance is hilarious. I’m honoured to be part of this project,” says Joans.

For some additional light entertainment and to make sure she doesn’t feel too alone, Harris will be joined on stage by local musician, Milo Nirvana with his mellifluous music and comedians Nolwazi Nkwandla and Kyle Haupt.

Hannah Bezuidenhout with her bubbly personality will be keeping it all together as the host for the evening.

ADHD, the Bottle and Me will take place on the 21st June at 6:30 pm at Isithatha Theatre, 12 9th Avenue, Walmer.

Early Bird Tickets are R60 each until the 8th June at 11:30pm. General Admission Tickets are R80 from the 9th June.

A cash bar will be available.
