In this two part webinar series, she will unpack Demand Avoidance.


Session 1: Demand Sensitivity in Neurodiversity: Empathetetic Understanding (Thursday 25 July)

In Session 1, we will explore the concept demand avoidance, as well as more specifically Pervasive Drive for Autonomy (PDA), also referred to as Pathological Demand Avoidance or Extreme Demand Avoidance. We aim to deepen our understanding by examining characteristics, sensitivity in nervous system, and how it may be experienced by different individuals. The session will be from a neuroaffirming approach, recognizing and valuing the diversity of neurodevelopmental identity.


Session 2: Creating Safe Spaces: Support for Individuals with Demand Sensitivity (Thursday 01 August)

Building on session 1, session 2 will focus on support strategies regarding demand avoidance and sensitive nervous system. The goal of the session is to discuss creating safe and supportive environments that respect and accommodate the unique needs of those with demand avoidance and or a strong drive for autonomy. We will explore neuroaffirming approaches that aim empower individuals and promote positive interactions.
