A harrowing and emotional production that tackles homophobia in South Africa. Directed by Siphenathi Siqwayi and starring Siyamthanda Bangani and Sbuja Dywili, Ganga Nyoko! Inzima Nyoko! is set in the rural Eastern Cape in the early 2000s and unpacks the challenges of being queer in South Africa, evoking nostalgia and emotions. When two old friends reunite after seven years, the magnitude of their differences and secrets arise, threatening to tear the friendship apart. Ganga Nyoko! Inzima Nyoko! was published by Junkets Publishers after winning their 2020 script competition. It was also awarded Finest of the Festival at the 2021 Zabalaza Festival as well as Best New Director at the 2022 Fleur de Cap awards. Stars Siyamthanda Bangani and Sbuja Dywili were also nominated for Best New Ensemble at the Fleur de Cap Awards the same year.
