Die Silwerskermfees-kortfilmprojek bied opkomende filmmakers die geleentheid om kortfilms te ontwikkel en te vervaardig met die finansiële steun en mentorskap van die fees. Hierdie inisiatief het ’n lanseerplatform gebied aan talle nou bekende filmmakers om die bedryf te betree en hulself te vestig. Die projek het oor die afgelope paar jaar eksponensieel gegroei en het uitgebrei na verskeie kortfilmkategorieë.

The Silwerskerm Short Film Project grants rising filmmakers the opportunity to develop and produce short films with the financial backing and mentorship of the festival. This initiative has offered a platform to numerous now well-known filmmakers to enter and establish themselves in the industry. The project has grown exponentially over the last couple of years and has branched out into various significant short film categories.

Rita, ’n bejaarde vrou, en die tannies van haar breiklub ontdek dat hulle aftree-oord deur die jong eienaar, Gertjie, verkoop gaan word. Rita skep met die hulp van die ontvangsdame, Koekie, ’n dating app om ouer mans te ontmoet en fondse in te samel vir ’n huurhuis waar hulle ’n heenkome kan vind. Sy beplan ook om wraak op Gertjie se oupa te neem, maar ontwikkel ware gevoelens vir hom. Geldwolf Gertjie vind uit van die app en konfronteer Rita met 'n ultimatum. Sy moet nou kies tussen haar vriendinne se blyplek of haar gevoelens vir Oupa Gert.

Rita, an elderly woman, and the ladies of her knitting club discover that their retirement home is going to be sold by the young owner, Gertjie. With the help of the receptionist, Koekie, Rita creates a dating app to meet older men and raise funds for a rental house where they can find refuge. She also plans to take revenge on Gertjie’s grandfather, but develops real feelings for him. Greedy Gertjie finds out about the app and confronts Rita with an ultimatum. Now she must choose between a place to stay for her friends and her feelings for Grandpa Gert.

Noise & Neighbours is die storie van ’n verveelde dogtertjie en ’n man wat moed opgegee het. Bolelo, die dogter van ’n werkende enkelma, bring haar dae alleen deur. Helmut is die buurman in die woonstel onder hulle. Hy verwyl wat oor is van sy lewe voor die TV. Toe Bolelo ’n klavier vir haar verjaarsdag kry, veroorsaak dit konsternasie. Wanneer sy klavier speel, stamp ’n omgekrapte Helmut met ’n besemstok teen die plafon en eis dat sy ophou om sy rus te versteur. Geleidelik verander hulle stryery egter in ’n gesprek. Hulle word vriende wat mekaar nooit ontmoet nie, maar tog altyd, deur dik en dun, daar is vir mekaar.

Noise & Neighbours is the story of a bored little girl and a man who has given up hope. Bolelo, the daughter of a working single mother, spends her days alone. Helmut is the neighbour in the apartment below them. He spends what is left of his life in front of the TV. When Bolelo receives a piano for her birthday, it causes a commotion. An irritated Helmut bangs on the ceiling with a broomstick whenever she plays the piano and demands that she stops disturbing his peace. Gradually, however, their quarrels turn into a conversation. They become friends who never meet, but who are always there for each other through thick and thin.
