ARTIST BIOS & STATEMENTS

Sewela Langeni is the owner of Book Circle Capital, an independent bookshop focusing on African Literature based at 27 Boxes in Melville, Johannesburg. She is passionate about literacy, especially in children. She's an avid reader and reviewer of local books for adults and kids. In her role at Book Circle Capital, she also facilitates conversations on books with authors. Over the years, Sewela has created extensive networks in the South African literacy and book publishing space. She is also an author of a childrens' book Making Friends With Feelings which bagged a Pendoring Award in 2023.

Janine Jellars is an author, editor, marketer, and entrepreneur. Janine grew up in Hanover Park, Cape Town, where she spent her childhood devouring the contents of the Hanover Park Public Library and dreaming of being a writer or a spy. Her childhood dreams became a reality when she chose the socially accepted route to practicing spy-craft: journalism. Now, she uses the skills she’s honed over her decades-long media career to build strategies for leading corporations. When she isn’t crafting content for corporations and mentoring and leading teams, she still finds time to interview local and global icons, such as Bonang Matheba, Taraji P Henson and Rihanna.

Zibu Sithole lives in Johannesburg with her son. She is a journalist with more than 10 years of experience writing for television and radio as well as print and digital media. She is a published ghostwriter of mainly romance novels. The Thing with Zola is Zibu’s first novel published under her own name.
