Born on July 19, 1998, in KwaSokhulu, a small village near Richard’s Bay, KZN, Phila's talent continues to soar.
In 2021, he was featured on the now-double-platinum hit "Idlozi Lami" by SOA Matrix and DJ Maphorisa, alongside Boohle, and also caught the attention of DJ Black Coffee while busking in Braamfontein.
Phila's journey took another exciting turn when he was invited to attend the 64th Grammy Awards in Las Vegas by acclaimed producer Jason Evigan. Though visa issues prevented his attendance, his star continued to rise.
On August 19, 2022, Phila signed with Sony Music Africa. His debut EP "EKHAYAKOMAMA" and its lead single "Amalobolo," along with the soulful "Badimo" featuring DJ Maphorisa and Boohle, were released on September 23. The EP also includes collaborations with DJ Maphorisa, Batundi, Mr. Brown, Given Zulu, and Ndabo Zulu, with Boohle and Mthunzi as the only featured artists. Boohle and Mthunzi.
