ABOUT
Keenan Meyer returns to the basement with a special one man show, this is a solo exploration of pianism in the Classical and Jazz tradition. The program features original compositions as well as works by Abdullah Ibrahim, Carlo Mombelli, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Martin Watt, Modest Mussorgsky, Claude Debussy and Johann Sebastian Bach.
Keenan Meyer is a South African pianist and composer renowned for his captivating performances and
innovative compositions. Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Meyer's musical journey began at a
young age. From his early childhood, Meyer showed a deep interest in music. His natural rhythmic sense and ear for
melodies led his parents to enroll him in piano lessons in 2007. As he progressed in his studies, Meyer's
exceptional talent became increasingly evident.
Meyer is a Mandela Rhodes Scholar and beyond his exceptional skill as a performer, writer and composer, he
is also passionate about teaching and nurturing the next generation of musicians. Keenan Meyer's musical
journey is marked by a deep connection to his South African roots and a relentless pursuit of artistic growth.
